Year 7 Football Match

On 11th of October the Year 7 football team went to Ashmole School and played a successful 2-1 win.

It was a tough match.  We went 2-0 up before half time.  It was a tense second half when there was a sudden break for our opponents.  Joe, one of our defenders, went to close the ball down.  He failed.  The ball was crossed down the wing  then played back into the middle and they scored from a header. We carried on with our heads high to hold of a brilliant team and win 2-1.

Yr7 Focus Day: St Paul's cathedral

On Monday 17th October Wren Academy had a focus day and the Year 7's went to St Paul's Cathedral and their House church. We learnt lots of new things like St Mary's Le Bow was the second most expensive church that Sir Christopher Wren designed. One of the main things we did when we were there was drawing the church and the parts of the building.

Here are pictures of the places we visited:

Year 7 Science

In science, Year 7 have been learning about chemicals and how they react to things such as metals(zinc, copper), acids and other chemicals. We have also learnt about acids and alkalis and how they react, also about the differences between them.

The Forthcoming Year 7 Focus Day

On Monday the 17th of October all the Houses will be visiting St.Paul's Cathedral where we will be enjoying a workshop in sketching.  After that the different Houses will split up and visit their house churches. Strand will be viewing St Mary Le Strand. The Year 7s are looking forward to the trip and hope it will be a great succes.

English Yr7

This week in English Year 7 have been focusing on a book set in WW1; called Private Peaceful. They have been researching WW1 to help them understand the book better. Then they used their creative ideas and put all their information into a poster. The information about WW1 that they found helped them understand the emotions the characters were feeling. During their lessons they have been thinking about empathy and how individually they would feel if they were experiencing WW1 by writing a diary entry; describing how they would feel if they were living in trenches and doing some drama in pairs. One person was a news interviewer and the other a soldier. The reporter had to ask the soldier questions about life in WW1.

Y7 CATS TESTS

Year 7 CATS Tests
This week some of the year sevens did their CATs test. It is a range of non-verbal, verbal and maths questions. These tests were taken on computers and they are supposed to test the Year7s abilities. The reading and spelling test were taken in an English lesson. Normally a test is pressurising  but not here at Wren Academy as the teachers make sure you understand everything as it is just to test your ability so that the school knows what to help the Year 7s improve on.

Year 7

Welcome to Year 7!
When you start Wren Academy it is a bit scary but after a few days you will get used to the way Wren Academy works.  It is easy to figure out your way around the school and if you get lost one of the students will be happy enough to show you around.

Year 7's Focus Day

This picture is showing a perfomance
in the ICA studio because 'arts' is
 not just paintings.
On Year 7's Focus Day we went to ICA. If you guys don't know what ICA is we will tell you - it stands for the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
